Our Inspiration and How You Can Help
|
We have been inspired by Deb Rielly, a local paramedic, who battled cancer for 15 years and who so sadly passed away on 4/4/2019. She had been on the rough end of ignorance as she decided to bare it all and not go with a wig or scarf. She tells us there is no reason for many fit and active people to get cancer - it is - just because.
After a successful inaugural exhibition, ArtSpace will again be putting the call out to artists to paint, draw, print or sculpt and enter an exhibition that will draw attention to the beauty of the hairless head. This time we will be exhibiting at the historic and magnificent Wonthaggi Town Hall. Selected works will be exhibited from 26th September to 4th October 2020 with a launch date of Friday, 25th of September from 6.30-8.30pm which will include the awarding of the prizes at 7.30pm. Special exhibition preview and morning tea will take place on 24th of September. Both the exhibition proceeds as well as the morning tea will go to the Cancer Council. There will be three cash awards for each category – that is 2D and 3D: 1st Prize is $1000 2nd Prize is $500 and 3rd Prize is $200. People’s Choice is $50. Why not be a part of this great event? You might like to be a sponsor - or support us in another way. Would you consider making a donation to ensure the success of the Archies Bald Portrait Prize? You will appear on the front page of our website, be part of our sponsor's board at the event and we will acknowledge our sponsors whenever we can. You will receive free entry to our opening event - with all the photo opportunities that we can muster - including local media. We plan it to be a yearly event – and it will certainly grow (no pun intended!). If you want a copy of Deb's book - get in contact with us through the Contact page. |
