Our Inspiration and How You Can Help
We have been inspired by Deb Rielly, a local paramedic, who battled cancer for 15 years and who so sadly passed away on 4/4/2019. She had been on the rough end of ignorance as she decided to bare it all and not go with a wig or scarf. She tells us there is no reason for many fit and active people to get cancer - it is - just because.
ArtSpace Gallery and the Archies Creek Hall have put the call out to artists to paint, draw, print or sculpt and enter an exhibition that will draw attention to the beauty of the hairless head.
Selected works will be exhibited at Archies Creek Hall from 24th May to 26th May with a launch date of Friday, 24th of May from 6.30-8.30pm which will include the awarding of the prizes at 7.30pm. Special exhibition preview and morning tea will take place on 23rd May. Both the exhibition proceeds as well as the morning tea will go to the Cancer Council.
There will be three cash awards for each category – that is 2D and 3D: 1st Prize is $1000 2nd Prize is $500 and 3rd Prize is $200. People’s Choice is $50.
Why not be a part of this great event? We already have sponsors for our prizes - but there are still many expenses. Would you consider making a donation to ensure the success of the Archies Bald Portrait Prize?
You will appear on the front page of our website, be part of our sponsor's board at the event and we will acknowledge our sponsors whenever we can. You will receive free entry to our opening event - with all the photo opportunities that we can muster - including local media.
We plan it to be a yearly event – and it will certainly grow (no pun intended!).
